NLP as a Talking Therapy at Chair of Change

At Chair of Change, NLP is used as a talking therapy. In our conversations, we can explore how you make sense of experiences, how you talk to yourself and whether familiar patterns of thought or response still feel useful.

We start with what you want help with. We might notice the words you use, consider another perspective or explore how you would like to respond in a situation. The conversation is guided by what matters to you; there is no fixed sequence everyone has to follow.

I also draw on NLP in professional and performance coaching. This page focuses on its use in therapy.

You choose what you share

When we explore something particularly personal or traumatic, it is not usually necessary to share the most personal details. We can work with how you think about and process a memory while you keep those details private, unless you choose to share them. You do not have to recount or relive an experience for the work to continue.

The work is done with you. You can question my understanding, pause or stop.

The Communication Model

The NLP Communication Model is one teaching model within NLP. It offers a way to think about why people may experience the same situation differently. It is not NLP as a whole or a therapy in itself. You can read more in “Why We Experience the World Differently.”
